One of these days, we really are going to have to get better about remembering to take pictures at our events.
Big shout out and “thank you” to Rochester Mills Brewing Company for hosting last night’s event. We couldn’t possibly be any happier with the space, the service, the environment, or any other factor, really.
And, of course, a thank you to everyone that made it to the event last night. Lots of new faces, and we’re starting to see more and more businesses looking to branch out and make contacts in the industry…always a positive.
I would definitely plan on us having more events there in the future…that’s a no-brainer.
In other news, Denise Ilitch Designs is doing something very cool to help Michigan Military Brides, and we’re naturally all about helping get the word out.
Then there’s the gaggle of random events taking place tonight and throughout the weekend that we thought you might want to know about…
Just as a quick reminder to start things off, our next event will be taking place on Thursday, March 22nd back at the familiar stomping grounds of the back room of the BlackFinn in Royal Oak. Looking forward to seeing everyone there. As always, details on our entire schedule of upcoming events (and we have March, April and May booked…still working on June, since that might be a Pink Slip Party…) can be found here on our site at http://www.ITinTheD.com/meet/
As mentioned a few sentences ago, Denise Ilitch Designs is looking to help out some Michigan Military Brides this March and April by supplying them with some incredibly jewelry on their wedding day. For details, check out the story here: http://www.ITinTheD.com/3136/denise-ilitch-designs-helping-michigan-military-brides/
Now…let’s start talking about those other events.
I teased you a little bit on Wednesday about an upcoming event where I’ll be moderating a panel discussion. Well, that event is “Using Social Media to Find Your Next Position/Employee“. Now, a disclaimer – this is NOT “our” event, in that it’s not a ITintheD.com event. I was just asked to be a moderator for the panel, and agreed to do so. This is being put on by someone else, and so it’s not being run like one of our events – i.e., “there’s a cover charge to get in to this one”. So, if you don’t want to go, I completely understand. That takes place on March 1st at Dino’s Lounge in Ferndale, and starts at 6:30pm.
However, given that I’m involved, and there’s alcohol involved…well, it ought to be an entertaining evening to say the least…
If anyone out there has some free time tonight, someone needs to do a scouting mission for us and find out what this Penguicon thing is all about during their “bring a friend” event where you can find out about them. They bill themselves as an “open source and science fiction” convention…and I like open source. And I like science fiction. But I’m already overbooked for Friday night, as are Bob and Jeff…so, again, anyone with some free time that can head over to the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn…most appreciated. You can find the details here: http://www.penguicon.org/CMS/?p=355
Pre-Registration is now open for the Day of Azure, and it’s only $10 if you register before March 5th, so why not go find out what evil plans Microsoft has for the cloud? Registration and other details can be found at http://www.dayofazure.com/
If you like sports, you might want to check out 97.1fm’s sportsfest event taking place on Saturday. Free admission (well, you have to pay for parking, but there’s no admission fee for the event itself), athletes from all of the Detroit teams will be there signing autographs and participating in panel discussions…should be pretty cool. Details are at http://detroit.cbslocal.com/show/sportsfest-2012/
