We interrupt your Cyber Monday shopping at work to bring you our latest updates. Tonight on our weekly live podcast broadcast we’re going to have a guest in from the State of Michigan talking about all sorts of programs you should be aware of, as well as the Daily Detroit crew talking about what events you should have on your radar for the upcoming holiday season…you know, in case you’re luck us and trying to figure out what New Year’s Eve is going to involve…
Plus blog entries, shows and more, so let’s get to some details…
As always, we kick this update off with information about our next in-person networking event…and it’s one we look forward to every year.
It’s our annual, end of the year fundraising event to support a local charity.
This year, we’re working with Operation Kid Equip again, in order to help ensure that local kids right here in the area that don’t necessarily live in the best of circumstances have a decent holiday season. OKE already has a list of about a thousand kids right here in the metro Detroit area that need our help…so let’s see how many of those kids we can cross off their list.
On Thursday, December 10th – so yes, it’s a week early, like we always do with our December events to try and not clutter up your calendar – bring a new, unwrapped toy, cash, or checks (made payable to Operation Kid Equip) to Falling Down Beer Company at 2270 East 10 Mile Road in Warren, MI starting at 5pm and help us do this. Best part? Not only are you helping this awesome cause, but since they’re a 501c3, all donations are completely tax deductible. That’s right, all of you people and companies looking for some last-minute write-offs…here you go.
Details can be found here on the site – https://itinthed.com/meet/, on our Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/ITinTheD, or in our Meetup group – http://www.meetup.com/ITintheD/
We’ll certainly be talking about that tonight during episode 120 of our weekly live podcast. We’re going to have a guest in from the State of Michigan talking about all sorts of programs you should be aware of, as well as the Daily Detroit crew talking about what events you should have on your radar for the upcoming holiday season.
Which is sort of self-serving, we admit, because we’re still trying to figure out what the heck we’re doing on New Year’s Eve, and so we’re hoping they have some ideas.
Mics go live at 9pm like always, so join us by listening live from 9pm to 11pm, and then hit us up by firing up Twitter and hitting @ITintheD during the show…and our phone line is up and operational as well. We love audience participation, so come along and play with us!
Listen live to hear it all happen…and as mentioned up above, you’d do well to grab the Podcast Detroit app for Android or iOS and listen that way. You can find those apps here: http://www.podcastdetroit.com/how-to-listen/ As our network continues to grow, mature, and add new shows, we’ll be re-purposing the IT in the D stream and app space for a second Podcast Detroit broadcasting avenue, so you might as well start listening there now, because that’s where we’re focusing our efforts. Plus, you can get some exposure to other great shows on our network.
Simply put, with over 30 shows running, there’s something for everyone. Check out the entire lineup at http://www.podcastdetroit.com/artist/ and start listening.
Now, about those blog entries…
There’s a Dark Side to networking…and leave it to the Detroit Lions to prove it. Check that out at https://itinthed.com/18067/the-detroit-lions-nepotism-and-the-dark-side-of-networking/
And then a few oldies but goodies bubbled up.
The LinkedIn Prostitution Ring is still one of my personal favorites, mostly because of all of the traffic we get from people searching Google for “Detroit escort” (hey, we’re not here to judge) and winding up on that article. Since they all read it, you might as well too – check it out at https://itinthed.com/1011/the-linkedin-prostitution-ring/
We’re not here to enable your laziness. It’s your job, your career, and your life. So don’t be this guy: https://itinthed.com/797/i-cant-make-it-to-the-event-but-can-you-please-forward-my-resume-guy/
After getting asked enough times, we put out a series of entries about running a networking group. This one about communication is always timely: https://itinthed.com/3218/hnts-networking-group-communication/
Last week’s episode with Kelly, Kasey and Hollie can be found at https://itinthed.com/18057/episode-119-kelly-ohara-kasey-pierce-hollie-ogden/
That’s all for this week. Listen live tonight, and we’ll see you in a couple weeks over at Falling Down Beer Company!
