So last year, in the week leading up to our Support The Troops event, we put some profiles out here.
Profiles of the troops that we were directly supporting and helping.
So, who are we helping with our event on December 13th?
You’ve read the primer on why we’re doing this.
You know we’re helping local Michigan people in the military stationed overseas.
You’ve got the event booked in your calendar and you’ll be there.
You read the Frequently Asked Questions about the event and you’re ready.
You might have even taken the time to read the profiles and updates from last year.
We introduced you to Dave earlier on, as well as Beth.
Well, now let’s meet another one of the people we’re doing this for this year…
Meet Mike.
Well, actually, you already met Mike. Sort of. Mike was actually one of the folks that we profiled last year, who helped us coordinate everything we did, and will be coming by on Thursday night. From last year’s note:Mike is a Lieutenant JG in the Navy.
He is a reservist and in his civilian life, he is the Placement and Career Services Director at Saginaw Valley State University.
He lives in Midland and is currently deployed to Afghanistan.
He is married with two children, and has another child due this summer.
Now, as an update to that…that “this summer” (now “this past summer”) part got a bit tricky. Mike actually wound up having to get back stateside due to some complications with the birth of their child. Though things were a little touchy, I’m happy to report that all is well, everyone’s healthy, and he’s looking forward to showing off his shiny medals at our event tomorrow night. Apparently there’s some mystical effect that these medals have on his wife or something…
…but I digress.
We’re very much looking forward to having LT. Mike (along with a new child, he got a new rank as well) on hand tomorrow night.
