Things are nuts these days, there’s no sense in trying to claim otherwise. We’ve launched a podcast network. We’re doing our show. We’re doing live broadcasts from other locations. Our next Pink Slip Party is just around the corner already. Still writing blog entries. Revamping our information about where you can best keep your skills fresh or develop new ones. Helping people find new jobs. Going through our inboxes and handling requests for personal or career advice. All in what we still laughingly call our “free time”.
So before the maniacal laughter breaks out, let’s just go ahead and get into the details for this week…
As always, let’s kick things off with information about our next event.
As noted up in the intro, things are a little insane right now, so we’re going to slow things down just a little bit on the events front. We’re going to get back to doing just one event per month for a bit, sticking with our usual Third Thursday rotation.
And so on Thursday, August 20th we’ll be upstairs in the Huma Room at Hopcat at our usual starting time of 5pm. We had a great time there back in May, and so it’s definitely a place we want to do more of these events at moving forward.
No cover charge to get in, no sales pitches, no agendas, no nonsense. Just good, solid opportunities to get to know some of the best and brightest folks in the metro Detroit information technology community. Looking forward to seeing you there.
Details can be found here on the site – https://itinthed.com/meet/, on our Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/ITinTheD, or in our Meetup group – http://www.meetup.com/ITintheD/
After that comes September, which means it’s time for one of our Pink Slip Party events…and all of the whacky mayhem that comes along with it.
And so on Thursday, September 17th, we’re back at The Majestic Theater for yet another one of our (in)famous Pink Slip Parties. If you’re not familiar with our Pink Slip Party events, then you should probably learn why they’re different from our casual networking events by reading the frequently asked questions over at https://itinthed.com/faq/, and you can check out some photos over at https://itinthed.com/meet/photos/.
Like all of our Pink Slip Party events, we’ll be accepting a very limited set of sponsors to help us offset the costs of running the event who get to have an established physical presence at the event, appear on all of our marketing materials and media mentions. Check out our sponsors page at https://itinthed.com/sponsors/ and then drop us a note to reserve a spot.
We’ve got some tricks up our sleeves again this time around, with some cool stuff on deck to kick things up a notch or two. You know us, we’re always looking for ways to make these events bigger, better and more effective for everyone involved, and this one is no different.
We’ll be talking about all that and more on tonight’s live broadcast of our weekly podcast as well, I’m sure.
Tonight we’re joined by Alexis, a recruiter from TEKSystems, Dan from SecurityMentor, and Michelle from the Public Relations department of Comcast.
Needless to say, between everything we have going on ourselves and the topics we’ll be diving into with our guests, it’s going to be an incredible show packed with all sorts of great information and chatter.
Mics go live at 9pm like always, so join us by listening live from 9pm to 11pm, and then hit us up by firing up Twitter and hitting @ITintheD during the show. We love audience participation, so come along and play with us! Not sure how to listen live? We’ve got instructions for you over here: https://itinthed.com/listen/how-to-listen/. You can catch last week’s episode with Lawn Guru and Startup Weekend Detroit over at https://itinthed.com/17509/episode-101-startup-weekend-detroit-lawnguru/
And there’s even more news on the podcast front.
Because we’re simply not content unless every waking hour of our lives is filled to the brim with mayhem and insanity, after getting asked by a number of people who wanted to start their own podcasts out of our studio, we’ve given in and launched a podcast network at http://www.podcastdetroit.com/ You can read all of our thoughts and background in the announcement we posted last week over at https://itinthed.com/17322/the-post-where-we-launch-a-podcast-network/ We have several shows that have already gone live on the new network over this past week, and then just this weekend we had a meeting that’s going to lead to a very exciting announcement in the coming days. We wish we could just get it out there right now…but unfortunately we have to keep it to ourselves for the moment until one more trigger gets pulled. So keep an eye out in the coming days as we let you know about even more fun that we’ll be having. If you would, please take a moment and…
Like the new station on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PodcastDetroit
Follow the mayhem on Twitter: https://twitter.com/podcastdetroit
Catch the shows in syndication on Soundcloud at https://soundcloud.com/podcastdetroit
And then if you want to join them…and us…by possibly launching your own show, we do have a few limited slots left where shows might fit, and we can also talk about syndication as well. Drop us a note – https://itinthed.com/contact-us/ – and let’s chat about what you’ve got in mind.
