“Do I look like I’m associated with this hootenanny? And when you come back, bring me something with alcohol in it.” – Lawrence Bourne III, Volunteers
Yes you, Tom Tuttle from Tacoma.
We’ve been getting asked by a surprising number of people about how they can get involved and help us out with IT in the D.
We’re not shy. We’ll take all of the help we can get.
There are three ways we’ve come up with…
At the moment, we’re still in “preparation and logistics” mode.
We’ve got the basics covered. We’ve got the “where”. We’ve got the “when”. Thanks to some great responses to our call for speakers, we’re even pretty well set on the “who”.
The “why”…well, I don’t think we’ll ever fully, truly understand why our desire to have a beer once a month evolved into what it is today, so let’s leave that one alone lest we hurt ourselves.
So that leaves us with the “how”.
There are a lot…and I mean a lot of details to putting something like this together, and we’ve identified three areas where we know we’re going to need some assistance:
1. Finalizing the planning and logistics before the end of the year.
2. Prep work the week leading up to the event.
3. Managing chaos on the day of the event.
Now, we’re hoping that there’s enough of the first and second that the third is limited…but I think we all know what happens when you release something into a Production environment for the first time, don’t we?
Exactly.
As a result, just like everything we do, we’d like you to get involved in order to make sure we don’t screw anything up along the way. That we don’t forget anything. That we stay true to ourselves and the group.
Most importantly…that we’re not missing something because we have our blinders on.
Ready? We hope so.
